Calling All Freelance Emerging Artists! Master the Art of Multi-Generational Sessions with Afrocats!

Afrocats seeks a talented emerging global majority background artist who possesses both musicianship and storytelling as a creative practice to join our award-winning programme at the renowned Whitworth Art Gallery!

You will need:

Artistic Practice

  • A strong professional practice in at least two disciplines: singing, music

performance, and storytelling.

  • Experience in creating and delivering engaging and interactive workshops.

  • A demonstrably strong and unique artistic voice that celebrates and reflects the experiences of a global majority or BAME background.

 

Intergenerational Engagement

  • A passion for working with people of all ages and backgrounds.

  • Experience in creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for intergenerational workshops.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage

with participants of all ages.

 

Collaboration

  • A willingness to collaborate with Whitworth staff and artists to develop

creative and inspiring workshops that complement the gallery exhibitions and theme.

A flexible and adaptable approach to working within a team

environment

 

Be available for the programme on the following dates:

  • May 28th, 29th, and 30th

 

Here's what you'll need to do:

  • Participate in a talent-share session with our artists (date to be confirmed - one week before the programme).

  • Attend an interview (first week of May 2024)

Calling all multi-disciplinary artists! Join our exiting collaboration with the Whitworth!


Afrocats is looking for a multi-disciplinary artist for our intergenerational workshops. We seek a talented and engaging multi-disciplinary artist from a global
majority or BAME background who can sing, play music, and tell stories to
lead workshops in an intergenerational space. This role is part of our exciting
collaboration with the Whitworth Art Gallery in May 2024.


Essential Criteria


Artistic Practice

  • A strong professional practice in at least two disciplines: singing, music

performance, and storytelling.

  • Experience in creating and delivering engaging and interactive

workshops.

  • A demonstrably strong and unique artistic voice that celebrates and

  • reflects the experiences of a global majority or BAME background.
